To accelerate the international education level of its undergraduate English program, Zhengzhou University--The School of Foreign Languages employs approximately 30 international faculty members coming from English-speaking countries. We are interested in attracting teachers who have the sound academic knowledge, professional experience and enthusiasm necessary to help our students improve their communication competence and achieve success.

 

 

Basic Qualifications:

Native English speakers or near native English proficiency; 

University degree or higher.  Preference will be given to those possessing an academic degree of B. A., M. A. or Ph.D. in areas of Applied Linguistics, English Language & Literature, History, Education, Philosophy, Anthropology, or other humanity programs. Candidates who hold a Master or Doctoral degree will be offered a higher starting salary.

Having teaching experience or holding a TESL certificate:  Although English teaching experience is not required, preference will be given to candidates who have previous experience in teaching or administration in public schools, or holding a TESL certificate.

Being responsible and committed

While knowledge of the Chinese language is not necessary, successful applicants will be interested in learning about Chinese culture and society, being committed to facing the challenges of living and working in mainland, China.

In order to obtain the necessary Chinese work visa, applicants must be:

-a citizen of a country in which English is a native language

under 60 years old

Typical Responsibilities: 

Teaching English speaking, listening, writing, and movie classes at the Department of Teaching English to All Non-English Majors or The English Department of ZZU;

Teaching Social Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition for postgraduate students majoring English Language & Literature, Translation);

Work schedule will normally be from Monday to Friday.  

20 classes per week, each class lasting 45 minutes 

Late August through December, and Late February through June terms

Arrival in Zhengzhou one week prior to the term commencement to attend a one week orientation, free of charge

 

Contracted Benefits (for one academic-year contract)

The contract runs from late August through June.

Monthly salary of 7000-10000 RMB (depending on qualifications and experience).

One round trip international air ticket

Up to 5-6 weeks paid holiday during the Chinese ‘Spring Festival’ in January and February.

All holidays normally observed in China

All teachers will be supplied with a furnished one-bedroom studio in a hotel on campus, or two persons sharing a 2-bed room apartment in the International Teacher’s Building on campus.  All rooms are equipped with a bathroom, furniture, bedding, television set, refrigerator, microwave oven, and facilities for heating and cooling

Introduction to Zhengzhou University (ZZU)

Zhengzhou University, located in Zhengzhou--the provincial capital city of Henan province, is among the best universities in mainland China.  The University was founded in July 2000 through the merger of three individual universities, namely the former Zhengzhou University, Zhengzhou University of Technology, and Henan Medical University.  The University boasts itself as one of the 100 key universities admitted into Project 211, the sole Project 211 University in Henan province.
