报告题目：Vertex operator algebra and moonshine

报告摘要：This is an introductory talk on vertex operator algebra which is a new algebra defined by Borcherds in 1986. We will discuss how the moonshine conjecture plays an important role in the birth of vertex operator algebra, and also report our recent results on connection between vertex operator algebras and modular functions.

报告人简介：董崇英，男，1986年于中国科学院系统科学研究所获得博士学位，导师是万哲先院士；1998年至今，任加州大学Santa Cruz分校教授。国际学术领域公认董崇英教授为顶点算子代数领域世界上最优秀的学者之一。已发表高水平学术论文100余篇，论文他引2000余次，引用人包括菲尔茨奖得主Borcherds、Drinfeld、Zelmanov以及本领域著名学者Frenkel、Goddard、Kac、Lepowsky、 McKay等。自1992年起，连续7次获得美国国家自然科学基金支持；2次获得National Security Agency资助。
