国际著名微分几何学家、美国里海(Lehigh)大学曹怀东教授将于2018年11月4-6日应邀前来郑州大学访问。访问期间，曹怀东教授将与院领导、教师和研究生座谈，并作学术报告。

报告题目：Singularities of the Ricci flow and Ricci solitons

报告内容摘要：The Ricci flow, introduced by R. Hamilton in 1982, evolves the initial geometry of a given space by the parabolic Einstein equation. One of the most important issues in the study of the Ricci flow is to understand the formation of singularities. It turns out generic singularities of the Ricci flow are modeled by Ricci solitons. In this talk, I will discuss the phenomena of singularity formation in the Ricci flow and present some recent progress on Ricci solitons.

报告人简介：

曹怀东，现任美国里海大学数学系A. Everett Pitcher讲座教授，同时担任清华大学丘成桐数学科学中心国际顾问委员会委员。他于1981年本科毕业于清华大学，1986年在美国普林斯顿大学获得博士学位，师从著名数学家丘成桐教授。

曹怀东教授主要从事的研究领域是微分几何学与非线性偏微分方程，涉及Ricci流、Kahler-Ricci流、Ricci Soliton 、数学物理等众多方面。曾获得美国Alfred P. Sloan奖(1991-1993)、John Simon Guggenheim 奖(2004) 和国家杰出青年科学基金B类（海外学者）等。现为国际著名期刊《微分几何杂志》（Journal of Differential Geometry）执行主编。
